Roundton Hill

Just outside Churchstoke, which is about 12 miles from Newtown, is Roundton Hill, a Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust site. It is a high grassy hill, grazed by sheep, with a triangulation pillar at its highest point. With the help of that, on a clear day, you will easily be able to pick out the Long Mynd, the Stiperstones and other more distant hills and mountains.  There is a 360 degree view and it is a peaceful and lovely spot. Best of all is to sit on the top with a flask of coffee and look out for peregrine falcons gliding beneath you. The climb to the summit is quite challenging but worth it.
