I moved to Newtown in 1976 to start my teaching career in Newtown High School, where I taught mathematics. I led the early developments of computer studies, and then IT, before leaving to take up a number of roles within the education department of Powys County Council. I retired two years ago, leaving my role of Senior Education Officer.
I have lived on Milford Road for over twenty years. I take a keen interest in the life of the town and appreciate what the town council has done for the residents of Newtown. They have raised the profile of the town through hosting national events such as the tour of Britain cycle race, as well as providing entertainment and enjoyment at the key times of Christmas and New Year. There are many other services that the town council is responsible for that the majority of residents are not aware of. We are living in a time of austerity, where more services are being devolved to local councils. This is a challenge to the town council and we must do what we can for our community.
I am keen to become involved, supporting then town where I can, with whatever skills I have.
