Have your say in the future of Newtown

Have your say on the future of services in Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn.

Powys County Council is making cuts due to austerity and budget cuts and cannot afford to provide services in their current form. Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council would like to protect and enhance these services by having them devolved from Powys County Council to Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council. Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council would then run these services.

The Mayor, Cllr Richard Edwards, said:

"The answers people give will help to inform the town council which services are most important to the residents of Newtown. This will help us to prioritise the order in which we transfer those services from Powys County Council."

Then he went on to say:

"It really is important that as many people take part as possible. The more people who take part the more it will reflect the views of everyone in Newtown whichever part of the town they live in."

The survey will run until the end of the year and will be available on Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council's website and Facebook page from today.

As an added incentive, anyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw for a meal for two at Mirren's restaurant.
