Mayor in Across Wales Walk for Charity

June 7, 2016

Mayor of Newtown and LLanllwchaiarn, Cllr Richard Edwards, will be taking part in the Rotary Club's Across Wales Walk on Saturday 18th June. The Mayor will be walking the whole route of 42 miles from Glandyfi to The Anchor to raise money for two local charities, the Newtown division of St John's Ambulance towards a replacement ambulance and the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust to develop wildlife areas in and around Newtown. Cllr Edwards has a long history with the walk, having participated in it several times; he says "I have completed the Across Wales Walk in every decade of my life since my teens. I'm very proud to be doing it now, not only during my time as Mayor but also in aid of two worthy local charities that are both close to my heart". Sponsorship forms can be found at Newtown Town Council Offices as well as in some shops and local businesses. Sponsorship can also be pledged via the charities own website or Just Giving page:
