It has been a busy week for Cllr Tracy Owen with the installation of two more Heritage Trail plaques in Newtown. The first plaque to be installed was at Sarah Brisco House where we met up with Chairman Rod Evans to scan the QR Code and read all about the history of Brisco House on Newtown and Llanllwchairn’s website.

The second plaque to be installed was at The Oriel Davies gallery and Cllr Tracy Owen stated, “”We are quite rightly proud of the interesting and varied history of our town, so I am very pleased to be a part of organising the Newtown Heritage Trail, which we hope will be a fun and educational activity for both residents and visitors alike.”

The Newtown Heritage Trail aims to commemorate people, places, events and achievements in Newtown. The aim is to link these stories to buildings in which people lived or worked and provide a permanent recognition of some of the most notable figures in Newtown’s recent and distant past.

The QR Codes on all of the plaques take you to https://newtown.org.uk/discover…/newtown-heritage-trail where you can follow the trail and take the time to be introduced to local characters such as John Roberts, the Romani Gypsy harpist who was famed as the country’s leading performer on the Welsh triple harp. There are still more plaques to be installed and we are excited for the day when they are all in place and the Heritage trail is complete.
