Newtown and Llanllwchaian Town Council was pleased to play a part in the unveiling of a new heritage plaque marking the birthplace of Robert Owen. This plaque is part of a wider initiative to highlight Newtown’s rich history through a series of heritage trail plaques.
The Town Council would like to thank Ann Evans from the Newtown Local History Group for her hard work and dedication to this project. Her efforts have been crucial in bringing this project to fruition.
The unveiling was performed by Cllr Mike Childs, our new Mayor, with pupils from the newly named Ysgol Robert Owen (formerly Ysgol Cedewain) in attendance.
There are several other heritage plaques located around Newtown’s significant historical sites. We encourage everyone to explore these sites and learn more by scanning the QR codes on the plaques.
