Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of the latest volume in the Explore Newtown series by Newtown and District Civic Society. Your town council is proud to have supported this project with a Community Grant of £1,000, underscoring its commitment to preserving and celebrating the town’s rich history.
The third volume of Explore Newtown marks the completion of the society’s survey of the town’s buildings, focusing on the area South of the Centre. From the town’s nineteenth-century growth to its resurgence in the 1960s, this book chronicles Newtown’s evolution through vivid descriptions and captivating photographs.
Renowned local naturalist and broadcaster, Iolo Williams, praises the book as “a real gem,” highlighting its documentation of significant historical events and disappearing landmarks.
