Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is thrilled to announce the official opening of the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) in Newtown town centre!
This exciting addition to the community promises to provide a vibrant games area for all ages, promoting active lifestyles and fostering a strong sense of togetherness for years to come.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mike Childs, expressed his pride, stating, “Newtown Town Council is proud to open the new MUGA that will provide a great games area for all ages for many years. This is the latest improvement to this area, in response to public consultation and the subsequent place plan.”
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Open Newtown, the National Lottery, and the Town Council, the entire area has undergone a remarkable transformation! From the new play park and toddler area to the magnificent Hafan yr Afon building, model train storage, cycle storage, improved river access, and chill-out area – now joined by the MUGA – the Newtown community has been given an incredible makeover!
Special appreciation goes to Cllr Val Howard, Chair of the Services Committee, Cllr. Lee Menzel, the lead councillor, and Officers Lee Davies and Hannah Morris for their unwavering dedication in overseeing this project to completion. Let’s not forget the contractors for their prompt and professional work in bringing this vision to life!
