Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is thrilled to highlight the recent musical exchange organised by the Newtown Twinning Association, which saw members of local musical groups embarking on a memorable journey to Les Herbiers, France earlier this month.
The musical mission, eagerly anticipated by participants, brought together musicians from Monty Folk and Newtown’s Ffonic, along with singers from Llanfyllin-based Gloria’s Gang and musicians from Newtown Silver Band, for a packed four-day exchange. The group was warmly hosted by French families in their homes, fostering deep connections and cultural exchanges.
The pinnacle of the twinning visit was a grand concert held at Les Herbiers’ Théâtre Pierre Barouh. This spectacular event showcased the harmonious collaboration between French and Welsh musicians, forming a choral and orchestral extravaganza that delighted audiences.
Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Newtown Twinning Association for organising this memorable trip and to all the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to promoting cultural exchange through music.

Mae Cyngor Tref Newtown a Llanllwchaearn yn falch iawn o amlygu’r gyfnewid cerddorol diweddar a drefnwyd gan Gymdeithas Ddeuolbarth y Drenewydd, lle gwelodd aelodau o grwpiau cerddorol lleol yn cychwyn ar daith fythgofiadwy i Les Herbiers, Ffrainc, yr wythnos diwethaf.
Roedd y genhadaeth gerddorol, a ddisgwylir yn eiddgar gan y cyfranogwyr, yn dod â cherddorion o Monty Folk a Ffonic y Drenewydd, ynghyd â chantorion o Gloria’s Gang y Drenewydd sef band Sgwâr Arian y Drenewydd, at gyfnewid bedair diwrnod llawn. Cafodd y grŵp eu croesawu’n gynnes gan dair deg a phedwar o deuluoedd Ffrengig yn eu cartrefi, gan feithrin cysylltiadau dwfn a chyfnewidiadau diwylliannol.
Uchafbwynt ymweliad y deuolbarth oedd cyngerdd mawreddog a gynhaliwyd yn Theatr Pierre Barouh, Les Herbiers. Dangosodd y digwyddiad rhyfeddol hwn gydweithredu harmoniws rhwng cerddorion Ffrengig a Chymreig, gan greu gŵyl choral a cherddorol a fyddai’n bleser i gynulleidfaoedd.
