Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council had the privilege of hosting Newtown Street Pastors in the chamber to shed light on their incredible work. Street Pastors are a community-focused initiative where Christians engage actively in addressing issues related to crime and safety in the community.
At the heart of Street Pastors’ ethos lies the principle of “Caring, Listening, Helping.” Volunteers from various churches come together, regardless of their backgrounds, to contribute to the safety and well-being of their community. They are known for their peaceful and practical assistance on night-time streets, offering a compassionate and supportive presence in our community.
Approachable and non-judgmental, Street Pastors are easily identifiable by their uniforms, caps, and distinctive bags. Working in collaboration with local authorities, registered services, law enforcement, businesses, as well as bars, pubs, and clubs, they provide practical support to vulnerable individuals.
Whether it’s assisting those under the influence of drugs or alcohol, aiding the homeless, supporting those affected by mental illness, or offering guidance to the young, lost, or lonely, Newtown Street Pastors are there to lend a helping hand. Their presence on the streets and in public places is intended to help ensure that those in need receive appropriate guidance and are directed to available support services.
Your Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council heard of the dedication and compassion demonstrated by Street Pastors in serving this community, and how their invaluable contribution to promoting safety and well-being aligns with the council’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for all residents. The Mayor agreed to give a written Mayor’s endorsement of the work of the Street Pastors and reminded them of the opportunity for funding from the town council’s community grant scheme.

Maent yn adnabyddus am eu cymorth heddychlon a phractig ar strydoedd y nos, gan gynnig presenoldeb tosturiol a chefnogol yn ein cymuned.
Mae Pastoriaid Stryd yn hawdd i’w hadnabod gan eu gwisgoedd, capiau, a bagiau unigryw. Gan weithio mewn cydweithrediad â’r awdurdodau lleol, gwasanaethau cofrestredig, yr heddlu, busnesau, yn ogystal â bary a chlwbiau, maent yn darparu cymorth ymarferol i unigolion sy’n agored i niwed.
Boed yn cynorthwyo’r rhai dan ddylanwad cyffuriau neu alcohol, yn helpu’r digartref, yn cefnogi’r rhai yr effeithir arnynt gan salwch meddwl, neu’n cynnig arweiniad i’r ifanc, y coll, neu’r unig, mae Pastoriaid Stryd y Drenewydd yno i gynnig llaw help. Nod eu presenoldeb ar y strydoedd ac mewn mannau cyhoeddus yw helpu sicrhau bod y rhai mewn angen yn cael arweiniad priodol ac yn cael eu cyfeirio at wasanaethau cymorth sydd ar gael.
