Ed Humphreys FSLCC, Town Clerk to Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council and Clerk to Churchstoke Community Council has received a prestigious award from his professional body, Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC). SLCC represents clerks to over 5,000 town, parish and community councils in England and Wales and has awarded Ed the Bryan Metcalf for Volunteering which is in memory of one of SLCC’s greatest and longest serving volunteers. This award is given to a clerk who has demonstrated exceptional voluntary service and was announced at SLCC’s annual National Conference this week.
Ed has been a member of SLCC for 25 years and has supported the work of SLCC at local and national level. This award recognises his active support of fellow clerks and his outstanding contribution to the profession as a whole. Ed said, “I’m delighted to receive the award from so many professional colleagues. It’s indeed an honour, and I thank the town council and community council for their support. I hope it also helps raise the profile of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn and Churchstoke for the better”.
