Following a motion brought to Full Council by Councillor Richard Edwards, Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council are pleased to report that additional seating has been installed at the playpark in Maesyrhandir.
After meeting with County Cllr Les Skilton and residents of Maeyrhandir and Garth Owen at the playpark in July 2021, Ward Cllr Richard Edwards presented a motion to Full Council which was resolved to: “The Town Council uses the Covid-19 recovery fund to purchase and install one standard bench and one picnic bench at Maesyrhandir play park”
The residents of the local area had requested more seating for the playpark due to a lack of provision considering the amount of use by the local community. The playpark originally only had one bench and now an additional bench, along with a picnic bench which can be accessed by wheelchairs has been installed.
It is hoped that the additional seating arrangements will offer a more welcoming space for families and to encourage even more people to enjoy the outdoor space. Cllr Richard Edwards commented “The Maesyrhandir playpark is well used by the local community, and It is great to see the new seating facilities installed for all to use. I am please that Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council were able to fulfil the request of the local community and making the park a more attractive space”.
