Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn are pleased to be launching a big art competition to mark the publication of the “Our Town, Our Plan: The Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Place Plan”. The competition is open to all, and we invite local people to send in pictures of their artwork showcasing “What I love about Newtown “.
Lead Councillor for the Place Plan, Cllr Richard Edwards: “Everything about Newtown Place Plan is big! From all evidence that was collected to the huge amount of time and energy that the community contributed to get it done. “Our Town, Our Plan” shows us a way forward to creating a town where people want to live, work and visit. And now comes Our Newtown: Big Art Competition!
“Our Town, Our Plan: The Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Place Plan 2021-2036” is a 15-year plan for the future of the town. It was put together with the involvement of 48 local organisations and based on over 7,000 comments and ideas from the community. To read the plan or find out more visit: https://newtown.org.uk/consultations/placeplan.html
A digital photograph entry of your artwork can show your favourite place to walk, play or meet friends or a favourite building or place to visit. Or maybe a picture of an inspirational person associated with Newtown. The brighter and more colourful, the better. You can draw, paint, create digital art or go bold with a 3D creation!
The winning artwork will receive a cash prize and be exhibited at the Oriel Davies art gallery. Winners and runners up will also be published in a special feature of the County Times and all entries will be displayed in an online gallery. We encourage all to get involved, with the below prices available:
Under 11s – winner prize £25
11-18 – winner prize £50
Over 18s – winner prize £75
To enter, create your artwork – in any way you would like. Take a photo and send in digitally via the online entry form:
