Bench installed on Back Lane to mark the First World War Centenary.
Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council’s Services Committee have installed a new remembrance bench on Back Lane next to the remembrance gates in the Town Centre to mark the First World War Centenary.
Cllr Richard White, Chair of Services Committee “We wanted something to mark the centenary of the First World War and I think this is a great way to do this. The bench serves two purposes, a place to sit and relax and an image of remembrance”
Cllr Richard White (Services Committee Chair), Cllr Val Howard (Services Committee Vice Chair)
The Town Council will also be hosting a First World War Remembrance Tea Party on November 10th in the Elephant and Castle. Tickets for this event will be on sale soon. The event will include entertainment, a raffle and a buffet lunch. All proceeds will go to Help the Heroes. For more information visit www.newtown.org.uk
