Impact on services during the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak

Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council is following Government, Public Heath Wales, and professional bodies advice regarding Coronavirus Covid-19.


NEW:

Covid-19 Newtown Network: Community SupportThe Town Council has established the Newtown Network in partnership with PAVO, Ponthafren, the local Church in Wales, the Salvation Army and volunteers, offering co-ordination of volunteer and business networks to support and assist the people of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn, and has allocated £5,000 to facilitate the Network.

The Town Council will endeavour to maintain services as far as reasonably practical but in the interests of maintaining social distancing and the safety of public, councillors and staff has made some service adjustments as below.

Bus ShelterRemain in use. Users are asked to observe following government guidelines on social distancing
Community Fund GrantsProcess is unchanged, applications are welcomed by 30th April, funding for gatherings/events will be ineligible and groups assisting with dealing with Covid-19 are encouraged to apply
Democratic ServicesMeetings of Council, Committees and Subcommittees are suspended until the Annual Meeting in May or when an Extraordinary Meeting is called by the Mayor. Decisions have been delegated to the Town Clerk.
Town Council Offices remain closed.
Notices and InformationNotice Boards remain in use. The digital noticeboard installation is going ahead when contractors are available.
Play AreasFollowing instruction of Government, the following areas with fence and gate are closed:
• Town Park playpark
• Maesyrhandir playpark
• Sycamore Drive playpark
• Trenor multiplay area.We will continue to monitor these areas along with general maintenance and bin emptying of these site and the other sites we maintain in town.
Northside Hall has been closed by the hall management committee.
Public ToiletsBoth toilets blocks are currently closed following government guidelines on social distancing and hygiene grounds. Disabled toilets remain accessible with RADAR Keys.
Tourist InformationClosed following guidance from Government
Town Council EventsTown Council organised events will be monitored, considered and determined later in the year.
Tuesday MarketFollowing guidelines from the Government and taking advice from our advisory body, access is closed to all traders except those who sell food.
War Memorial & GardensClosed following guidance of Government. We will continue to monitor these areas along with general maintenance and bin emptying of site.
