On Tuesday 29th May at Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council’s Annual Meeting Cllr Sue Newham and Cllr Susan Hill were re-elected to Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively. Cllr Newham and Cllr Hill have both been on the council since 2012 and have been key figures in council projects ever since.

The new Mayor said: “I feel very honoured to be elected as Mayor for a second year. What has been achieved by the Town Council this past year is amazing, and could not have happened without a strong councillor team and the hard work and enthusiasm of our staff.”

During her year in office, Sue will continue supporting Welsh Air Ambulance as her chosen charity.

Cllr Newham continued with “The focus this year needs to be on consolidating good practice and developing better ways of managing workload for staff and councillors. However, there are still some large pieces of work ahead, including the completion of “Your Council’s 5 year plan” and a Place Plan for Newtown, looking at our priorities as a community for the built environment.

I am very pleased that Susan Hill has been elected as Deputy Mayor once again. She has been a great support to me in the past year.”

Town Clerk Ed Humphreys said “Good relationships between Mayor, Deputy-Mayor and the Town Clerk’s team, and respect for each other’s’ roles, are fundamental to the effective working can you buy ambien over the counter of the council and it’s been a pleasure to work with them for the past year. I’m delighted to welcome the Mayor and Deputy-Mayor for second terms of office and look forward to the continuity, sense of teamwork and support that will bring to the Council and staff.”
