The Recreation Ground, Pool Road, is home to Newtown Cricket, Rugby and Tennis Clubs who together form Newtown Sports Club which holds the lease over the land and manages the Club House and Changing facilities.
In 2019 approximately 14286 individual visits were made to The Rec to take part in physical activity with a further 4060 visits by spectators or to attend social functions. The clubs are proud of their contribution to the health and wellbeing of the local population which is made possible by the hard work and dedication of their volunteers.
Participation in sport has increased especially in younger age groups and females. Standards expected are also increasing and we need to be thinking about the provision of better facilities to ensure they are suitable for use by all.
The Sports Club wishes to ensure that its plans for improvement reflect the needs and aspirations of users and the wider community and your participation in this Community Consultation will assist in developing the best solution at The Recreation Ground.
