Across the UK on Sunday things were different, with parades cancelled and small socially distanced gatherings taking place. In Newtown, organisations came together to arrange a small but poignant act of remembrance that touched so many in the community. Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council live streamed the event, hosted by Rector of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn, Revd Canon Nia Wyn Morris that has been shared over 100 times and viewed over 11,000 times.

Mayor, Cllr David Selby said “We all missed the parade featuring representatives of organisations from the town, the Remembrance service and the gathering of many of us showing our respects.  But I am delighted, that by adapting to current circumstances and the provision of live streaming, so many people were able to join the event safely in a digital way.”

Another small socially distanced event for Armistice Day will be available on live stream from Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on Facebook or on the newtown.org.uk website from 10:50am on Wednesday 11th November.
