The Mayor and Town Council of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn are proud to announce the return of a cherished tradition – the Mayor’s Civic Service, taking place on Sunday 23rd November 2025 at 11am at All Saints Church, Commercial Street, Newtown.
This special event marks a renewed commitment to bringing the community together in a spirit of unity and cohesion, gratitude and public service. All members of the community are warmly invited to attend and are kindly asked to be seated by 10:50am.
The Mayor shared his heartfelt thoughts on the significance of the occasion:
“I was absolutely delighted at September’s full Council meeting that the council agreed to reintroduce a Mayor’s Civic Service after so many years without one in our Town.
Having recently attended Mayor’s civic services in Montgomery, Wrexham and Welshpool I have seen how these special events bring together not only civic and community leaders in a spirit of thanksgiving and commitment to ongoing public service but all members of those communities and other guests of honour from neighbouring towns.
It is an honour for me to serve as Mayor and in these recent difficult times I want to re-enforce my firm underlying belief and desire that our town is a welcoming place for everyone and this will be a civic service where everyone is welcome to attend what will be a community event that brings the people of our town together as one.
I sincerely hope you will be able to join me on the day and I look forward to seeing you.”
The Civic Service is not only a celebration of civic duty but also a moment to reflect on the strength and resilience of our community. Whether you are a long-time resident or new to the area, this event is a chance to come together, connect and celebrate what makes Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn such a special place to live.
