The Celebration of Newtown Awards 2026 is here and nominations are officially open!

This prestigious event, hosted by Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council, will take place on Wednesday 25th March 2026, honouring the incredible individuals, groups and organisations that have made a positive impact on our community over the past year.

Why Nominate?
The awards are a chance to shine a spotlight on those who go above and beyond for Newtown and its surrounding areas. Whether it’s through volunteering, business innovation, sustainability efforts, or creative contributions, this is your opportunity to celebrate local heroes.

Award Categories

  • Newtown Volunteer of the Year

An award which looks to recognise an individual who has given their time generously and made a positive and valuable contribution to the community of Newtown.

  • Young Person or Youth Group of the Year

An award for an inspirational young person or group (aged 19 or under) from Newtown that has volunteered and contributed their time to make a positive contribution within the local community over the last year.

  • Local Business of the Year – Innovation & Enterprise

An award to recognise a local business that has demonstrated enterprise, vision, innovation or entrepreneurial spirit within Newtown and the local area.

  • Local Business of the Year – Third Sector

An award to be given to a charitable organisation, social enterprise, or not for profit organisation, who have made a positive impact on the local community.

  • Local Business of the Year – Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality

An award open to any business (for example hotels, visitor attractions, food & drink businesses) operating in Newtown & surrounding area. Award looks to recognise businesses that demonstrate exceptional commitment to providing an outstanding experience for visitors, tourists, and business travellers to the area.

  • Climate & Sustainability Award

An award which seeks to recognise the work of an individual, groups, organisations or businesses that have undertaken activity to promote sustainability and introduced initiatives to reduce the impact of climate change in the local area. Aiming to recognise those that are leading the way to a sustainable future.

  • Sports Award

For an individual, team or group in Newtown who have achieved or helped achieve excellence in the field of sport. The award could look to recognise the achievement of reaching national or international level, an individual who has given a significant amount of time to support sport within Newtown.

  • Creative Arts Contribution Award

For an individual, team or group in the Newtown area who excels in the Creative Arts and/or has contributed to the creativity to our Town. Nominations are welcome from any form of creativity.
