Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council invites the community to come together in solemn reflection and remembrance this November, as we honour those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Remembrance Sunday – 8th November 2026 – for anyone is unable to attend the parade, we will be LIVE streaming the event on the day. Please check the Newtown & Llanllwchaiarn Town Council facebook page for updates. Click here.

This year we are delighted to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant of Powys Mrs Tia Jones and cadet.

Following a church service at All Saint’s Church, the town will gather for the Civic Remembrance at the Newtown cenotaph. The parade begins outside the Monty Club on Broad Street at 10:40. The parade will proceed to the cenotaph, where the ceremony will commence at 10:55.

The ceremony will include:

  • The Last Post and two minutes of silence
  • Exhortation and Kohima recited in both Welsh and English
  • Calling of Names of the fallen by local school pupils
  • Laying of wreaths, prayers and the Act of Commitment
  • The National Anthems of Wales and the UK, followed by a final blessing.

Road closures will be in place to ensure the safety and dignity of the event.
